What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, Cirencester O55 Men made the trip to Taunton Vale Sports Club for the latest and what sadly proved to be the last round of this years Championship competition, losing narrowly on Flicks.
A sterling effort by everyone. The first half was even, with Taunton gaining in confidence through the half, Cirencester defended well to keep the scoreline at 0-0. The talk at half time was about how we were dropping too deep allowing Taunton to win the midfield battle.
Unfortunately a well taken 45th minute goal by Taunton Vale put them in the driving seat, but not to be outdone, Cirencester dug deep and with the higher pressing, came back strongly towards the end. Ali Mylechreest narrowly missing a sweep shot from open play, before Jason Muir calmly slotted home the equaliser in the 60th minute.
Both teams continued to try to find an illusive winner, but flicks were needed. With the Taunton Vale GK coming out on top 4-2.
A great first campaign in this competition, looking forward to next years competition already.
And a big thanks to everyone who were involved in the 3 x matches
